Hidden Histories: The Forbidden Gastown Tour
In this exclusive and interesting tour we will be covering the best spots of Vancouver’s Gastown. But this is not just your normal walking tour as we will be bringing the whole spooky vibe to it. We will be exploring the hidden secrets and histories of this tour along with a professional guide. The tour begins at 356 Water streets which is just right at the entrance of historic gastown. This is the location where the water and Cordova streets intersect. This is not a tough to find location as you can easily locate it using the google maps.
Gastown and the Forbidden Downtown
In our walking tour we will be covering 6 major historical points where each location has a different history to it. Your knowledgable guide will be leading your way as you are transported to an area of corrupt politicians, mob bosses and glamorous show girls.
Our very start location is the Cambie Bar and Grill. It is a lovely bar and restaurant which has a lot of history that dates back to the time of gold rush. Learn about gold prospectors and early pioneers, who frequented this establishment.
Our next stop would be the dominion building. This is the same building that stood as the Vancouver’s tallest skyscraper in the year 1910. As we keep walking, we will see the Woodward’s 43. This building has been a prominent fixture in the city for over a century. It has played a pivotal role for the redevelopment. The tour finally comes along the cobblestone streets of the Gastown which is the true historic epicentre of Vancouver. Get the chance to be immersed in its unique ambiance. You will also witness the famous Gastown Steam Clock.
As we continue with our journey we will meander along the water street. It is the main thoroughfare in Gastown. Uncover serious stories about Prohibition Commissioner Walter Findlay and understand his role during the time when alcohol was both banned and sought after. Our last stop, the hotel Europe was once home to a near-beer parlour. Discover more about the same during your tour.
Concluding our tour
The tour ends at the maple tree square. This place has now become Vancouvers restaurant and bar scene. If you want to return to the starting point, it is just mere walk for two minutes. The guide will provide map and directions for the same.

Exceptionally bad traffic made the start later than would have liked but Shawn our driver was a brilliant host making sure we experienced all the features of the trip. Skylon Tower, the Sheraton Buffet, Niagara Falls, the whirlpool, Niagara on the Lake, the world’s smallest church and the wine tasting. Highly recommend and book it all you will not be disappointed.

We went with Shawn on our tour and from the very beginning he was very professional and courteous! Shawn was an excellent safe driver and we had a smooth trip and at all of our stops we had more than enough time to enjoy the sights! I would definitely take this tour again if I were in Toronto and didn’t want to drive and I highly recommend Shawn and his fine hospitality and kindness and great knowledge of the area. Shawn loves the Niagara region and knows it well and truly loves it here and that helps make his tour exceptional!

We had a great time! We are from British Columbia and have never been to Niagara so booking through tour beez was easy and they did all the planning, even small details like booking our Uber, providing links and times. Our tour guide, Shawn was extremely knowledgeable with the falls and also the surrounding area. He was so friendly and personable. He even added on a couple extra stops whenever time was saved along the way. I will 💯 recommend Tour Beez to friends and family!
